Mongoose's history starts in 1974, when Skip Hess came up with the Motomag, a cast-magnesium BMX wheel, according to Mongoose. Its first full-size, multi-speed mountain bike, the ATB, came in 1985, and the FS-1 freestyle BMX in 1986.
